Explanation of Surah No 90 of Quran AL-BALAD (The City)
In
the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
THIS
IS AN EARLY Meccan revelation and refers to the relation of the Holy Prophet
(Peace And Blessings Upon Him) with the city of Mecca. He was born in the City
of Mecca which had been sacred for ages. He belonged to a noble family but he
was an orphan, and the orphans in his days had very poor time. He was
unlettered but he had Divine Guidance. He protested against idolatry and sins,
for that his own people persectuted him and cast him out. He should have been
respected and loved in his native city. But he and his followers were put under
a ban and hardship. Allah says that for sure that soon the time will come when
he with his followers will triumphantly enter the native city.
The
Meccan Pagans were astray and arrogant and did
not want anyone to interfere into their corrupted ways. They were quite
happy to believe that
